Our Services

Hourua is contracted by Next Generation Critical Communications to deliver the Public Safety Network’s Cellular Services for its customers Fire and Emergency New Zealand, Police, Hato Hone St John and Wellington Free Ambulance.

Public Safety Network Cellular Services provide a resilient multi-network cellular solution emergency responders will use to share information, including data, voice, video and images.

The two key frontline services Hourua is delivering for the Public Service Network are:

Public Safety Network Roaming: activated in July 2023, Cellular Roaming across the Spark and One NZ networks extends cellular coverage for emergency services because they can use both Spark and One NZ networks. If one network is not available or fails, users are shifted to the other network to support communications continuity for operations and staff safety.

Public Safety Network Priority: activated in November 2024, emergency services voice and data communications get priority over other users when cellular networks are congested or degraded, which supports communications continuity and staff safety.
